You Can Check These Things Before You Call:

Heat pump systems have become increasingly more complicated over the years. Electrical components include both high voltage (230 VAC) low voltage (24VAC) system. Refrigeration requires high pressure liquid and gas refrigerant circuits. You can do some basic diagnostics but leave the more aggressive troubleshooting to trained technicians. These are items you can check to verify operation and perhaps prevent an un-needed service call:

Make sure your thermostat is "ON", is set to "HEAT" in winter or "COOL" in summer and the desired room temperature is set properly to initiate heat pump operation.
Make sure your "SYSTEM SWITCH" is set to "ON". This switch is typically a traditional toggle switch that may have a RED cover-plate.
Check your circuit breaker panel to ensure that your heat pump system breaker is "ON".
If your heat pump power was off, or if the thermostat was not set properly, after correcting the issue give it a few minutes: many systems have a time delay on start-up that can delay operation.
Change your air handler filter and re-start your system.
